Follow the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail, marked with clear signs, as it leads you through picturesque villages and beautiful landscapes. The highlight of the day is the breathtaking confluence of the Drava and Danube rivers, a natural wonder that promises awe-inspiring views and a perfect spot for a break.
Conclude your cycling journey in Erdut, a renowned destination for wine enthusiasts. Surrounded by vineyards, Erdut invites you to relax and savor the region’s finest wines while enjoying panoramic vineyard vistas. Day one promises a perfect blend of history, nature, and wine, setting the stage for more adventures ahead.

On your second day of cycling, you’ll pedal through the enchanting Middle Danube landscapes, where the Croatia-Serbia border seamlessly merges. As you embark on this leg of your journey, you’ll be captivated by the harmonious blend of two nations’ natural beauty and cultural treasures. Traverse the heart of the eco-friendly gem, the Special Nature Reserve “Gornje Podunavlje,” to witness a breathtaking mosaic of aquatic, wetland, and terrestrial ecosystems, with the majestic Drava-Danube confluence as your backdrop. The air resonates with melodious bird songs, and you may have close encounters with deer, roe deer, wild hogs, and clever foxes in the marshes. As you near the entrance to Apatin, a picturesque town, indulge in delectable fish stew and other local specialties, all while soaking in the lively ambiance of the Danube. Make a stop in Apatin’s charming downtown area to explore local amenities and absorb the history and culture of Nikola Tesla Square. This cycling stage offers an unforgettable blend of natural wonders, wildlife encounters, and cultural exploration.
In Apatin, don’t miss the chance to embark on the Tastes of the Upper Danube experience, where nature exploration meets culinary delights. Begin with a serene canoe tour along a secluded Danube River branch, guided by a knowledgeable local expert. As you paddle through the “Upper Danube” nature reserve, discover a wealth of wildlife in the water, among the trees, and soaring through the skies. To conclude your adventure, savor dishes like Fish Paprikash, Wild game in Tortilla, or alternatively delightful vegan options, making for a truly memorable and immersive experience.

On the third day of this exhilarating cycling adventure, immerse yourself in the beauty of unspoiled nature as you pedal along the Danube River’s side channels and meanders. As you embark on this picturesque journey, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of the tranquil waters and pristine landscapes that characterize the Danube’s hidden gems.
Along the way, a delightful array of restaurants and chardas awaits, inviting you to take a break, savor a refreshing drink, and indulge in the gastronomic treasures this region is renowned for. Fish dishes take center stage, with the iconic fish stew serving as the trademark delicacy of the area. Starting your adventure in Apatin, the chardas line up one after another, including the Brunai Charda, Bee Charda (“Pčela – Kupusinska čarda”), the Hunting Lodge, and the Pike Charda (“Štuka čarda”).
As you pedal through this stage, you can explore and appreciate the rich cultural and historical heritage that dots the landscape, adding depth and significance to your cycling experience. Be sure not to miss the charming Bački Monoštor settlement, which showcases its Austro-Hungarian past through some of its older architectural gems, adding a fascinating historical dimension to your journey. After a fulfilling day of cycling, you will spend the night in Sombor, where you can find well-deserved rest and prepare for the next leg of your adventure.
Stage 4

On Day 5 of your 7-day cycling adventure, you’ll begin in Sombor, celebrated as Europe’s greenest city. With its vibrant arts scene and cycling culture, Sombor sets the stage for your journey. Starting from the city center, you’ll explore the scenic Great Bačka Canal area and have the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing swim break at Opaljenik.
Continuing your ride, you’ll enter the enchanting Special Nature Reserve of Gornje Podunavlje, renowned for its diverse wildlife. Along the Canal Embankment, you’ll be treated to stunning views and opportunities for swimming, with two routes to choose from. Head north to Mohács, Hungary, or take a detour west to Batina, Croatia, where the Karapandža Eco-centre/River’sCool offers relaxation and exclusive experiences. Explore weekend settlements around Bezdan village, offering charming cottages for rent and local restaurants serving regional delicacies. Your day concludes with the option to visit the MIKI ZOO near the Hungarian border and arriving to Mohács, known for its historic Busójárás Carnival celebrated with vibrant masks and festivities. Day 5 promises a captivating blend of culture and nature in Europe’s greenest city, making it a highlight of your cycling adventure.
Stage 5

As you set out from Mohács, a town known for its lively Busó Festival and cultural attractions, your cycling adventure takes a new direction. Mohács offers vibrant services, accommodations, and a unique UNESCO-protected carnival event every February. Explore its architectural gems, including the Byzantine-style Votive Church and the captivating St. Michael water- and treadmill. From the Mohács port, consider optional activities such as boat excursions and bike carriages before crossing the Danube to the Serbian border at Hercegszántó, where rural, hunting, fishing, cultural, and gastronomy tourism awaits.
Your journey continues to Kölked, famous for its Museum of the White Stork, and then through the Béda wetland protected area, part of the Danube-Drava National Park. Here, you can connect with vibrant wildlife along the Nagypartos study trail, with a chance to spot the elusive black stork. As you cycle along the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail in Serbia, you’ll pass through picturesque landscapes and reach the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Topolje. From there, you’ll head to Draž, where a newly renovated Danube beach invites you to cool down and relax during the summer months.
The final stretch of your day brings you to Zmajevac, renowned for its vine-covered hills and top-quality wines. Don’t miss the Josić Winery, founded in 1935, offering award-winning wines, a delightful restaurant, and wine tasting rooms. You can also explore other notable wineries like Gerštmajer and Kalazić in this charming region. Day 7 marks the grand finale of your remarkable cycling adventure, commencing in the picturesque village of Suza. Bid farewell to Suza and hop onto your bike for a serene embankment ride, where nature’s serene beauty and the melodious chorus of birds create the perfect backdrop as you head towards Osijek.
Continuing your journey, you’ll meander through pure, unspoiled nature, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere and the delightful symphony of bird songs. Pedal your way through Bilje, a charming Baranya village renowned for Eugene of Savoy’s 18th-century castle—an architectural gem waiting to be explored. For those seeking more adventures, a detour to the nearby Tikveš Castle, surrounded by ancient oak woods and enchanting gardens, is a must. You can also visit Eco Center Zlatna Greda and experience Wildlife water tour that offers canoeing with professional guide to the biggest colony of herrons.
As you approach Kopački rit Nature Park, get ready to be captivated by breathtaking landscapes and incredible biodiversity. Nestled at the confluence of the Drava and Danube rivers, Kopački rit stands as one of Europe’s largest preserved natural wetlands and the greatest inland delta of the Danube. Within its lush oak and maple forest lies the Tikveš Hunting Castle, a former imperial residence of the Habsburg family and a later retreat for the President of Yugoslavia, promising stories of grandeur and history.
Concluding your fantastic journey, you’ll arrive in Osijek, where you can reflect on the incredible experiences you’ve gathered.
